Homewood Community Church
Roots for Our Mission
Capital Campaign | 2026 – 2029
Putting down roots for a permanent home — to love God, love our neighbor, and love our place for the next 100 years.
A Word from Our Pastor
Dear Homewood Family,
This is an exciting season in the life of our church. In 2019, we started a church with a clear identity: a community church in Homewood centered on the good news about Jesus. We are “doing the work” we set out to do. I love what Homewood Community Church has become!
Our mission is simple: love God; love your neighbor; love your place. We began worship in a dance studio and then moved to a gym, but the question has lingered, “where would we put down roots for a permanent home?”
Now our church leadership and I believe we are ready for the next step — to put down roots for our mission, by building a permanent home to create better space for children and adults so that we can love God, love our Neighbor and love our Place. We have always desired permanence in the community, to be connected physically to where our people live and to be a place where people can serve and grow.
I believe this project fits the mission, and I’m excited to go through this process with each of you together as a church family!

What We’re Building Together
Homewood Community Church is entering a defining moment in our life together. After years of gathering, growing, and planting roots in the heart of Homewood, we believe God is calling us to take a bold step forward — one that will strengthen our mission and deepen our presence in the community we love.
Secure a permanent home rooted at the center of our city, creating a place where our church family can flourish for generations.
A worship space designed to gather upwards of 650 people, enabling our entire church body to worship together in unity and joy.
A dedicated environment nurturing the spiritual formation of children, students, and adults — discipleship at every stage of life.
A campus that serves as a physical touchpoint for neighbors seeking hope — space for ministries that promote spiritual and physical wholeness.
How We Get There
To bring this vision to life, we will pursue a funding plan that reflects both faith and wisdom. Over a three-year period (September 2026–2029), our Roots for Our Mission initiative invites the HCC family to give above and beyond regular offerings in support of this long-term vision.
Our Primary Goal
100% Engagement
This process is not primarily about a building in Homewood. It is an extension of our mission — a way of doing church within a community, of being the church to a community. Our goal is not just fundraising. We desire engagement from everyone in our church.
“While it’s so much more than a building, there is beauty in seeing our vision come to life in a very real and tangible way — would you join us?”
Scripture calls Christians to give generously — not out of compulsion or guilt, but as a response to God’s love for us. At HCC, we remind ourselves that the gospel is not “here’s what you need to do,” but rather, “here’s what God has done.” We give because He has been generous to us.

How We Got Here
Our Story
From a small group gathering in living rooms to a growing church family putting down permanent roots — here’s how God has led Homewood Community Church every step of the way.
A small group at Oak Mountain begins to pray and dream about starting a church in the heart of Homewood. Families open their homes for interest meetings and gatherings. A launch team forms around a simple mission: love God, love your neighbor, love your place.
On February 17, 2019, Homewood Community Church holds its first worship service at The Dance Foundation. A church is born. By fall, HCC hosts its first Family Camp — a tradition of community and rest that continues to this day.
When COVID-19 forces in-person services to pause, HCC moves to online worship and stays connected. Out of a heart to serve neighbors, the Rosedale Food Pantry is born — starting on a single shelf and growing into a lasting ministry of care.
On August 29, 2021, HCC is formally particularized as a congregation in the Presbyterian Church in America — a defining milestone marking the transition from church plant to established church.
HCC launches its first Thrive Missions Trip and begins worshipping at The Exceptional Foundation. New staff join to support children, youth, and discipleship as the congregation grows.
HCC ordains its second class of elders and deacons, completes a second leadership training class, and continues sending mission teams — a congregation deepening its roots in the community.
In October 2025, HCC announces it will move forward with building on its own land — a defining step toward establishing a permanent home rooted in the heart of Homewood.
The congregation gathers for Vision Dinners and officially launches the Roots for Our Mission capital campaign — inviting every member to give generously and plant roots in Homewood for the next 100 years.
