Our Vision: We long to be a gospel-centered community church in Homewood.
We believe the central events in history are the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. These events tell us the gospel (good news) story. We want to center our church, our vision, our message on this good news. So, we say HCC is a gospel-centered church.
The gospel is not just the A-B-C’s but the A-Z of Christianity. The gospel is not just the minimum required doctrine necessary to enter the kingdom of God, but the way we make all progress in the kingdom of God.
Our vision is also to be a community church in Homewood. This is a specific way of being a church that says we want to be a community, a family, a place for you to know and be known. And it says we exist in a community, in a place, Homewood.
Our Mission: Love God, love your neighbor, and love your place.
Love God: “You have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in you.” -St. Augustine
We believe we were created by God to love Him first, and our greatest tragedy is that we love other things more.
We believe one role of the local church in gathered worship is to call us to order our loves rightly.
We believe love for God ultimately comes from his love for us. 1 John 4:10
Love Our Neighbors: “It is impossible to be truly converted to God without being converted to our neighbor.” -John Stott
We are a local church that places a high priority on loving our actual neighbors.
We believe human beings were made to “know and be known” so we want to be a community that provides space for this in all that we do.
Love Our Place: “The local church is the only institution in the world that exists for its non-members.” -William Temple
We are a parish church, seeking the common good of the place around us.
We want to be a church not just for ourselves but for our neighbors.
